About Yushinkan Dojo
Yushinkan Dojo is comprised of three distinct martial arts study groups: Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu, Aikido, and Shinkendo (separate location). This dojo is a private training club and membership is only offered for adults ages 18 and up (Aikido and Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu). The Shinkendo Study Group may be more flexible with the age requirement. We are a club. We are not a business. We meet with like minded people to practice together these beautiful arts. All dues and fees go toward having a place to practice. Please contact us to schedule a visit and try a class. All visitations are by appointment only.
The Dojo
Yushinkan Dojo - was founded in 1994 by Blaine Feyen Sensei and named by Fumio Toyoda Shihan. Yushinkan means brave heart-mind. Our primary focus is to provide a safe and engaging training environment. We implement a zero-tolerance policy toward physical abuse or sexual misconduct. We have two different practice locations graciously hosted by Pro-Karate Grand Rapids and Shorin-Ryu Karate School.
Passionate
We are a passionate group of martial artists. Our instructors volunteer their time. We encourage students to travel and learn from different instructors, dojo, and organizations regardless of affiliation. We welcome all guests.
Perseverance, Patience, and Hope
We strive to improve everyday through consistent practice. Growth is the only path forward. There is no replacement for hard work and shugyo.
