The history of our dojo
This page is under construction, but since you're here feel free to take a look.
Yushinkan Dojo was founded in 1994 by Blaine Feyen Sensei and named by Fumio Toyoda Shihan. Yushinkan means brave heart-mind. The Toyoda Center location on Division near 36th street was purchased on September 11, 2001.

"I first joined the dojo when it was still called the Toyoda Center on Division and 36th. I think the location before that was at Mirandettes Martial Arts in Kentwood. I stepped into the dojo for Aikido because I thought the movements were so beautiful and dynamic. I didn't want to fight. I don't like violence. I just wanted to learn because it looked fun. The dojo at the time had Aikido, Kendo, Shinkendo, and BJJ. I practiced Aikido, Kendo, and some Shinkendo. (to be continued)" -Hung
